[Guide] Smithing to 110 by EpicTaru

  • Do not expect to make any gil using this guide. This guide is meant to just skill up quickly and either A.) Sell the crafted items to NPC shops or B.) Hope that the AH-Bot buys back your item.


  • Most of the recipe items have a 4-5 level gap. In the case of a having a gap of greater than 5 levels, having Advanced Synthesis Support is a must. You will not get any skill-ups for any breaks if you are more than 5 levels under the skill level of the synth!


  • All recipe items listed below can either be bought from shops/guilds an/or obtained by farming them. Some recipe items you may already have from previous crafts. Buy the crystals/clusters from !ah or farm them in Sky/Sea.


  • Helpful Guild Notes: Primary Smithing (Blacksmiths') Guild is located at (E/F-7/8/9) in Bastok Metalworks (first floor), Ghemp is the Guild Master, Wise Owl gives the Advanced Synthesis Support.


  • NPCs listed were based on cost then proximity from the primary guild location, if they aren't already guild NPCs. Primary guild location was chosen based upon frequency of NPC decided.

Recruit (0-10)

Bronze Sheet (skill level 4): Element: FireFire Crystal + 1x Bronze Ingot

  • Bronze Ingot is available from NPC Amulya at (E-9) in the Blacksmiths' Guild shop in Bastok Metalworks.


Craft Bronze Sheet until Smithing skill is level 4.

(Handful of) Bronze Scales (skill level 10): Element: WindWind Crystal + 1x Bronze Sheet

Aside from the above recipes, you also have the option of attempting to skill-up by repeatedly crafting a lower level synth. Be warned though, the chance of getting a skill-up for a lower-level synth is incredibly small! You may have to literally craft hundreds of lower-level synths in hopes of getting a skill-up through this alternate method.

  • Kitron Macarons should be used, as well as any armor items that increase crafting skill-up chances to give this method the best chances possible for skill-ups....but even so, the chance is still incredibly small!
