History/Background

In ancient Greek mythology, Amphitrite (Greek: Ἀμφιτρίτη, translit. Amphitrítē) was a sea goddess and wife of Poseidon and the queen of the sea. She was a daughter of Nereus and Doris (or Oceanus and Tethys).
